Deus62.com, livingwithmusic.com and count-basie.com are the online homes of Volkher Hofmann (deus62), high school teacher, electronic percussionist, amateur web designer, general geek, and avid music collector.

The heart of this online presence is livingwithmusic.com, a site for music collectors who are looking for ways to add to, manage, store and display their sizable collections. That site is updated whenever new products, releases, items or general observations and specific reviews merit a new post. Having spent weeks and months searching the Internet thin for all things related to music collecting, I will have quite a bit to offer in the near and far future. The only question is how much time real life leaves me to invest in this site. I’m a busy guy and that has been this site’s problem in the past and will be a problem in the future.

Deus62.com is just the “umbrella site” linking to some completed web projects (or hiding personal projects meant for certain eyes only).

Count-basie.com is, unfortunately, dead as a doornail a sleeper at the moment. It was started by several ardent Count Basie fans but lost steam after the participants had to reevaluate their priorities. One of the main goals of the future will be to integrate that site into this online presence and design and to get rid of the horrific table and image soup still prevalent (but invisible) there.

When not active on this site or busy with my day (and night) job at school, you can find me on various forums under various nicknames. I’ve been around the Web since the early 1990s and I intend to stay online until I drop dead.

Programming and design:

All the sites were programmed using Notepad, Windows’ wonderfully slim and limited text editor, Firefox, to access my site interface, and WordPress (WP), the content management system I switched to just recently. Throw in a tiny bit of Photoshop work for design and images and FileZilla to upload my files, and you’ve got the full web design package.

The sites are hosted by DomainFactory, a German hoster with a solid reputation.

Deus62.com and livingwithmusic.com went tableless for the Fall 2005 reboot (the site has since switched owner and went pretty dead). If it hadn’t been for B. Adam Howell there, I would have never dared to jump.

“Structure” Theme

I use the “Structure” theme by Justin Tadlock, which I’ve adapted a tiny bit to my needs.

Photocase:

Once in a while, this site uses images downloaded from Photocase.com. The work by the following photographers has been used so far: subway7, sheym, spacejunkie, ERNIE, Dommy, SBe, smeyli, Roodini, himbeertoni.,miggmag, madochab, fritz international, grafzahl84, kallejipp, Jenzig71, brianh, öda, dancerP, Jazzid, chriskuddl, and fastbeat. Some posts with their photos may habe been permanently deleted or are offline at the moment.
