I agree with you, although I would say that the traditional aspect is more than visible. Just check out “Jimmy Smith Goes to Washington”, for example.

But then again, any band that covers Zappa’s “Peaches En Regalia” fits the bill as you described.

And, I’m not knowledgable at all. I just listen and keep with Justice Potter Stewart who, when asked to define hard-core pornography, uttered the classic definition of “I know it when I see it.”

In that very sense, I know good music when I hear it. That’s really it. So, I’m sure you know at least as much as I do. :)

Of the newer bands, I’m partial to Joey DeFrancesco and Organissimo. If I compare the two, Organissimo seems to take a more modern and contemporary approach. I don’t know if that makes any sense to someone as knowledgable as you, but in my humble opinion, that aspect of their music makes them all the more likeable. </p> <p> I just checked out their site and noticed that they’ll be playing the Tritone in Philly.
